Most people would surely agree that the planet on which we live is still a place full of astonishing beauty and infinite potential, even if the contribution mankind has made to it has sometimes fallen short of the ideal. Beneath the superficial ebb and flow of fashion, the aesthetic power of nature to touch our deepest emotional responses remains as constant as the Earth itself, and the roots of art and architecture tap directly into this unfailing source of inspiration.

     The original Formica, created in the 1913 in the USA, represented a first attempt to capture the qualities of natural material in a new man-made alternative 'for-mica' - a pioneering synthesis that was to evolve into one of the essential decorative elements of 21'th century architectural and interior design.

     While the technical advances laminate have introduced over the years have helped keep our products at the forefront of innovation and quality, the inspiration for the colors and effects, patterns, textures and finishes to be found in our designs is still draw from the fabric of the world around us. Even at our most technologically sophisticated, we still find a reassurance of permanent and fundamental value in the universal language of nature. Mankind has continually tried to emulate it, consistently tried to enhance it yet the persistent originality of nature makes the task an infinite source of creative perplexity, Nature - Mankind - Time - an eternal paradox.

     Formica continues to explore the creative possibilities that lie beyond practical function and mere decoration, we believe we can make an imaginative contribution to the vision of those whose privilege and responsibility it is to shape the environment in which all of us must live and work.
